With more than 130 years in the business, Færch & Co. is one of Denmark’s most experienced companies when it comes to executing on construction, service and contracting tasks for private and business customers.
The company has always focused on efficient project management and financial overview but the old ERP system had become a barrier to both growth and daily operations.
“The system had become outdated, inflexible and cumbersome to work in. We also experienced repeated problems with missing licenses, which meant our employees often could not access the system when they needed to,” says Martin Lampe, CEO and co-owner.
It was especially in connection with time registration, case creation and financial follow-up that Færch & Co.’s nearly 300 employees faced the biggest challenges.
“Limited access to the system created bottlenecks. When we could not get access, cases were not created on time,” he says.
Manual workflows and lack of integration with other systems also meant that both administrative staff and project managers lacked an overview of finances, and task planning became less accurate and sometimes delayed.
A modern automated business platform
To remove these bottlenecks, Færch & Co. chose the ERP system Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with Cepheo as advisor and IT partner.
“Dynamics 365 Business Central was chosen because it builds on the Microsoft platform and will give us much greater flexibility and better access control. With the ERP system we can have more simultaneous users without running out of licenses and the system will be able to handle case creation without downtime,” explains Martin Lampe.
The ERP system is being implemented but once it goes live, both finance staff and project and contract managers will be able to track project finances in real time, see contribution margins and update budgets directly. Automatic case creation has already been implemented and stabilized and integration with Microsoft Power BI will provide an overview across departments.
Færch & Co. has also chosen to automate invoice handling, payments and document management with a range of third-party solutions from Continia.
“Solutions will give project managers more time to focus on the construction site rather than paperwork,” says the CEO and co-owner.
He explains that Cepheo has played a key role as advisor:
“Cepheo had great insight into how finance, projects and automation are connected. They helped ensure that our set up in Dynamics 365 Business Central supports both manual and automated case creation and that the entire financial flow was considered from the start.”
Better control, streamlined resources and digital outlook
The complete business platform is expected to be implemented at the beginning of 2026. With the solution in place, the company expects to achieve more stable operations, fewer manual processes and better financial overview.
“Project managers and contract managers will have access to data when they need it and the automated process will continuously create cases. This will free up resources and enable better control,” says Martin Lampe.
